Paper Scissors Rock
Amnesty International Live Music Night in Kings Cellars
By 'Little Juicy Bits' (New Hall magazine)
Friday October 31st 2003

This kicked ass. Live music is something we definitely don't get enough of in Cambridge. Performing were Jeremy Warmsley from Churchill College (that's right, a hill-college compatriot!) Akira, a King's 3-piece rock band, and a group called Street Regal which I haven't heard of, didn't stay to listen to and can't really comment on! Jeremy, a 3rd year philosopher and singer-songwriter has quite a mellow country-influenced sound and excellent performance skills, interacting with the crowd really well, whilst Akira, composed of three 3rd year students from Kings, have a darker sound. They're very cool and slick, with a professional edge that you might not expect from a student band.

My main criticism of the night would be the venue - although very COOL, King's cellar is very low-ceilinged, hot and cramped with terrible acoustics. Plus everyone kept barging past us to get to the bar... an 'excuse me' never hurt anyone did it??
