Patriot Review

Rock Something
By Adam Harrold

Starting to become quite a regular on these pages, Akira have stubbornly refused to deviate from their meandering path. The band has probably had enough of being referred to as ‘unusual’ by now, but that’s exactly what they are. “Patriot” simply serves as a further lesson in the original and bizarre from a trio of seemingly outright nutters.

There’s still no question that only the open-minded amongst you will ever learn to appreciate the band’s haphazard approach to song writing, but for anyone willing to hear a veritable paintball attack of crunching guitars, twisting melodies and offbeat ideas, this is the band to check out. “Patriot” isn’t as memorable as “I Think of You as Miss Universe”, but nevertheless, the band continues doing things as only they know how.
